Day 22 - Red Feather beaded bookmark with bird

Product Review: Martha Stewart Scoring Board with envelope guide.

As promised in my post Dec. 26th (which was day 13th of creating bookmarks for 365 days) here is my review of the Martha Stewart Scoring Board. You can make envelopes, boxes, pleated flowers and more!  Go to this link for five ideas for using the scoring board. I plan to try making those cute pleated flowers soon.  I would highly recommend this product.

The envelope guide knocks my socks off.  It fits in the left-hand corner when you are using it and you can store it underneath the board.  The board also has a small drawer in the top that stores the bone folder that it comes with plus I store a stylus in there too. I bet a couple of M&M's would fit in there as well.  The grooves are in increments of eighths where most of the others have quarter inch markings.

Amazon was selling it for $13 and change before Christmas but I got it for $10 with a Michael Coupon.  There was a similar product I was considering that cost three to four times as much when I was shopping for it.  I noticed the similar product now has a video showing you how to measure eighths on their board.  You can use the MS board without needing a video.

The MS board has the measurements to use for the envelopes on the envelope guide as well as in the inside lid of the drawer she has box and card measurements posted so you don't have to look this information up every time.  I know you should always test before ruining good paper, etc., but I was excited and did this envelope on my first try, it is THAT easy.  Did I mention fun?  Plus, these are sooooo much easier to mail than the coconuts I tried to mail from Hawaii years ago.

I think this is a very well thought out product, simple to use and the price is more than fair.  I am not affiliated in any way, just a happy customer.

There are no long lines or tickets required to see the art in the everyday.

Leaves gathered from my mom's backyard in San Diego. My 6-year old granddaughter spots a bird in the leaves (see in upper left-hand corner) or close up below.

Day 17

This bookmark is made from Jasper that I purchased from the same rock shop in Tucson, that has since closed.

Day 16 Everybody Needs a Rock

I love rocks!  One of my favorite books is Everybody Needs a Rock by Byrd Baylor.  It is a wonderful book written for kids.

I bought this rock  to make a bookmark from a small rock shop in Tucson.  This is a great bookmark, fits small or large books.  The elastic cord fits between the pages of the book without damaging the pages.

This bookmark is available for sale.  You can visit my shop at the Big Cartel.

Day 15 - Photo bookmarks with tassles

Here are some more photo bookmarks.

I think tomorrow I will make some beaded bookmarks with an elastic cord, something different.  I have some wonderful pieces of Jasper and some banded onyx and more I bought from a rock shop in Tucson.  Can't wait.

Day 14 Magnetic bookmarks and card

Here are a couple of magnetic bookmarks on a card.  One has a map background and the other has postage/postcard background.   A simple gift for a guy, not too flowery.

Day 13 Hello Kitty! Magnetic bookmark with matching card/envelope

Hello Kitty bookmark with some added bling and a fringe tassel.  I made the card with a matching envelope.

All of this was accomplished with my new tool, the Martha Stewart Scoring Board with envelope guide. I will post a complete product review!  I will give you a hint, I love it!  Great purchase.  It is wonderful.  It makes it so much easier to score and fold cards, envelopes, boxes, bookmarks and more.  Here is a wonderful link that will give you five scoring ideas.  I can't wait to make a box!

Here is my cute little fringe template I made for myself tonight.  It is 4cm wide, you wrap the embroidery floss around it 20 times.  I start it and pinch it between the covers to hold it in place as I start wrapping.

I made note of the dimensions on my template so I don't have to look the information up again.

Merry Christmas from Tucson, AZ

Tucson is all decked out for Christmas.

Day 12 Greeting cards w/magnetic bookmarks

Merry Christmas.  Here are today's bookmarks.

Here is the inside of the card.

Christmas photo bookmarks - at last I can post!

As promised, the photo bookmark I made for Christmas that I couldn't post on Day 1.

By the way, the book used in this post is Lost Souls:  Found! Inspiring Stories About Chihuahuas.  The dog in this photo on page 114, is of Nala, the dog I adopted from a rescue organization!!

The photo of her was taken when she was still in foster care.  She still has that adorable droopy ear!  She was found by a rescue group at the Arizona Humane Society underweight, scared and dragging herself around by her front paws.  At the time it was feared this was a permanent disability.  The foster parents were researching doggie wheelchairs.

The purchase price of the book goes in helps support animal rescue efforts by showcasing the love, happiness and joy adopted dogs have to offer.  I can testify to that.  Nala is the most wonderful, sweet-natured girl and I feel privileged to have her.  You can find out more about the stories/books or share your own by going to www.happytailsbooks.com.

I can report that Nala is thriving, walks and runs unassisted and as I write this post she is beside me, snoring in her sock monkey bed.

It is really hard to make just one!!!
